When space is at a premium, consider recessed shelves. Line them up in a neat row to turn them into a design feature in their own right. Paint them the same colour as the rest of the wall to make them visually blend into the scheme. To create recessed shelving, you’ll need to build a false wall, which can also be used to keep plumbing out of sight.
If you can’t get away to a romantic bolt hole when you want, re-create one at home in rustic bathroom style. A vintage tap and hammered basin evoke an enchanting country feel. Dark wood is brightened with peacock colours. Continue the rustic charm by going for the smaller style of tile popular in post war times.
Introduce shelving where ever you can in a bathroom. The twin washstands shown here incorporate a lower glass shelf for towel storage, while floating wall shelves between basin and mantel mirror provide handy perches for toiletries. A lovely scheme made gorgeous.
Combine maritime elements for a yacht club inspired look. Use smart stripes to add colour to the pale walls and team it with a co-ordinating rug for a cohesive and considered look. On the windows, opt for a Venetian-style blind to inject coastal-style, as well as to let light in without compromising on privacy. Complete the look with seaside-inspired accessories and rich blue linens.
