Make the most of high ceilings with draped fabric. Go for a panel rather than a rouched curtain and save pounds. Turn a large bedroom into a cosy retreat with a DIY canopy that makes a delightful focal point. Bring in a decorative side table and yellow lamp for a modern twist on traditional country features such as grainy oak beams and a traditional timber bed frame. Layer the bed with pretty yellow linen and cushions in a tasteful mix of patterns that continue the same low-key charm.
Don’t shy away from bold wallpaper in a small room. A cleverly-chosen print can really open up an enclosed space: Stripes will make all the difference to your small bedroom and give the illusion of extra height or width. Try playing around with visuals and hang stripes in different directions to create a unique talking point.
Think about using wallpaper in a completely new way to really make a statement. Papering the ceiling will make a striking focal point, as will papered furniture. Transform plain table and chairs into something really special with patterned and brightly coloured wallpaper or line your shelves with flocked wallpaper to make the most of simple storage solutions.
Murals are available off the peg or custom made. Choose a design that sets the theme of your room and remember that a mural will take centre stage. Positioning it behind the bed and keeping furniture unfussy will show off the design at its best.
