Turn your room into a pretty post-war pad. Create a romantic vintage look by mixing fabulous furniture finds. Echo an antique rose-upholstered chair with country floral bed linen and continue the period character with exquisite pieces, such as a quilt and vintage mannequin stand. Finish with a display of pretty frames above the bed.
Combine classic patterns with block colour for a modern country style. In this vibrant scheme, a muted colour clash peps up the vintage-vibe wallpaper. Go for throws in mustard yellow to stand out against a neutral botanical, and introduce putty greens for freshness.
Revamp an old headboard with a fun, photo-motif fabric. Choose a modern design unusual enough to take pride of place in a minimal bedroom. Because you’re only covering a headboard, the outlay for fabric shouldn’t be big. Paint walls white to let the fabric print stand out and lift the look with a touch of lime using two citrus cushions and curtains. Dress the bed with plain linen to continue the white scheme.
Complement a neutral palette with pastel hues. Combine delicate prints and soft colours with natural materials to create a bedroom filled with cosy comforts. Choose thick fabric for a cohesive look that’ll keep out the cold, line heavyweight curtains in a thermal fabric that coordinates with your wallpaper. Stay in touch with the great outdoors in the cooler months by displaying seasonal posies in simple ceramic vases. Don’t forget the flooring. Add a super-soft flourish with a chunky woven rug and deep pile carpet to keep your toes toasty.
